Local Authors
There
are writers all around you. Support your locals!
I've enjoyed getting to know other writers in the western PA area, the
area where John
McDonald, author of the suspenseful Travis McGee books was
born. Also from western PA (by birth or experience) came Willa Cather,
Michael Chabon, Rachel Carson, Nellie Bly, Annie Dillard, Mary Roberts-Rinehart,
David McCullough, and many others.*
Listed are authors in the area who I've come to know through joint book
signings or finding each other online or through contacts. If you're
an author who lives between Erie and Pittsburgh, send me a note and
I'll add your website.
Ammy Achenbach: A
Few of the Many Adventures of Oliver Toliver is Ammy's first
book aimed at young boys. Main author link still to come.
Gloria
Clover:
Gloria writes romance, speculative fiction, and devotionals. She's been
recently signed with Desert Breeze Publishing.
Todd
Crawford:
Todd is a high school senior with three books out already! Look for
the supernatural in his work. Link still to come.
TC
Conner:
TC is known as The Write Gardener, a master gardener also known to write
some poetry. He also plays a mean acoustic guitar. See the Mandolin
Whiskey reference below.
Phil
Hartsock:
Phil does some fiction and some non-fiction, both experience-based.
Along with some smooth lead vocals for his band Mandolin Whiskey, he's
been known to play the mandolin.
Colleen
Hroncich:
author of The
Whistling Irishman: Danny Murtaugh Remembered is Murtaugh's
granddaughter who wrote this loving tribute to the legendary Pittsburgh
Pirates manager.
Liana
Laverentz:
Liana's contemporary romances are award-winning (and I would tend to
call them at least part literary, although she doesn't!).
Marilyn McCall: Marilyn
writes non-fiction, PA-based. Like history? Check out her work.
Thom
Rogers:
Thom is author of the Toby series, an historical adventure based in
western PA, for the young and young at heart.
Anne
Slanina:
Anne features Annie Mouse in children's stories, both fiction and reality-based
learning adventures.
