Bio
Growing
up in the middle of the Midwest infused author LK Hunsaker with small
town community-oriented spirit and a steady, earthy base.
Being raised
in a widely artistic family added to that a strong creative urge. Manifested
in the forms of fine art, music, and an interest in dance and theater,
the urge was always strongest when it came to writing and story creating.
Her first creative written works came well before her teen years with
musical
plays,
developing into an exploration of poetry in her early teens and then
into a short-term scriptwriting venture.
High
School found Hunsaker dabbling in many extra-curricular activities including
the school newspaper, yearbooks staff, art club, AFS (American Field
Service), band, chorus, 4H where she earned a blue ribbon for a pencil
drawing of a favorite musical artist, and some minor sports explorations.
Graduating in the top 10, she headed to Illinois Central College to
earn an arts associate and moved next to Eureka College, majoring in
psychology with an art minor and plans to head into Art Therapy.
A
detour took her to Texas before graduation with her new Army spouse,
and then to West Germany (when it was still called West Germany). During
the nearly 4 years overseas, she and her husband had their first child
and did a fair amount of traveling, setting foot in Berlin just after
the Wall came down with a traipse into Poland, castle exploring down
the Rhine River, north via ferry to Copenhagen, and a one-month train
trip to Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Madrid, Toledo, Rome, Venice, Vatican
City, Florence, & Pisa, and back up through Switzerland.
Other
moves took them to Massachusetts where their son was born and allowed
quick trips to Boston and Maine, to Georgia where they daytripped to
Savannah and jumped down to Florida, and to Northern Virginia where
they did several White House tours and met President Bush. They visited
Toronto on a musical adventure and NYC a year after the Towers fell.
Family and friends have taken them to Idaho, upstate New York, Michigan,
Tennessee, and Missouri. Now settled in western Pennsylvania, they're
enjoying the gorgeous biking routes and scenic recreational lakes. Their
most recent travels have been to Scotland, Ireland & England on
a couple-only trip and to Niagara Falls, Canada as a family. Check the
photo album for a few of their best travel scenery shots.
Hunsaker
holds a degree in psychology, completed along the route somewhere between
jobs and kids, with an emphasis in art and literature. She works as
the network coordinator for The Center of Culture and Sandplay, runs
an indie publishing group, reviews for Classic Romance Revival, edits
her daughter's college papers and chauffeurs her son to marching band
and baseball games. Currently in the midst of writing and editing two
(or more) novels, she also adds short stories to her growing list of
writing credits from time to time.
